Why the exact model matters

Printer families often contain several closely named models. A driver for one model may not provide the features or compatibility required by another. Read the model number from the printer label or its control panel before downloading anything.

Use official manufacturer support pages

Microsoft recommends Windows Update as the preferred driver method, with manufacturer websites as another supported route when Windows Update does not provide the required software. Search for the printer model on the manufacturer's official support website and select the correct Windows version.

Windows 11 and Windows 10

Check the operating system version and system architecture when the manufacturer's download page asks for it. On supported systems, Windows Update can automatically obtain recommended printer drivers.

ARM Windows PCs

Some Windows on ARM devices can have compatibility differences with traditional manufacturer installers. Microsoft recommends using Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device where appropriate, unless the manufacturer provides specific ARM guidance.

Do not use untrusted driver sites

Random driver websites can bundle unwanted software or provide an incorrect package. PrinterConfig does not host or redistribute manufacturer drivers. Our model finder is designed to help you identify the right support path.
